A filling is one of the ways to restore a damaged tooth (normally damaged by decay) back to its normal shape and functionality.

What you Can Expect During the Filling Treatment:

1. Local Anesthetic - Before the filling procedure it may be recommended that you be given a local anesthetic. This will numb the gum area around the tooth to be filled.
2. Removal of Tooth Decay - drilling may be necessary to cut through the enamel to remove any decay matter. The dentist will now shape the area ready for the filling material.
3. Etching - to help bond the filling material the dentist will use an acid gel to etch the tooth in readiness for the filling to be placed.
4. Resin filling application - several layers of resin will be applied and the dentist will use a special machine with a bright light to help harden and make the resin filling ultra strong.
5. Polishing - the dentist will now polish the resin filling to complete the treatment
